Now we’re sure you’ve heard all the warnings about UV rays, and how damaging they can be to your skin. Any short-term gain you might get from having a tan will cost you in the long run in sun damaged skin that will only get worse as you age.
Celebrities and fashion models are all too aware of this fact, which is why so many of them like Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman and Scarlett Johansson prefer go with their natural, fair-skin tone. If you have a darker skin tone, then you really shouldn’t need to tan anyway.
And don’t let peer pressure force you into spending hours at the beach or in a tanning salon. Having your own personal style means you don’t have to look (or act) like your friends all the time. Let them damage their skin if they want to, but you know better. Just like whether or not to smoke or drink, we all make choices in our lives that affect our health and our beauty. Don’t feel like you need to do something harmful just to “fit in with the crowd.” If they make you feel like you do, maybe you need a new crowd to hang out with.
If you really must have a tan, one safe alternative is to use a self-tanner. If you are going to spend a lot of time in the sun, then always go out wearing an SPF 15 or stronger sunscreen on your face and other sun-sensitive areas .

First off, everyone here at the Stylish Chic would like to wish everyone out there a Merry Christmas. We know it’s been a tough holiday season out there for a lot of folks, but hopefully the coming year will bring a new direction in our economy and things will start to get better real soon.
Anyway, our style tip for the day involves the use of scarves and other accessories to dramatize your look. If you have a monochromatic outfit that needs a little spicing up, try adding a scarf as a dramatic accent. Just use your best judgement as far as color and design. Remember how effective Jackie O was at using scarfs to add a touch of elegance to her look?
Using jewelry is another way to add glamour to an outfit. Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, all can set of that blouse or jacket. We prefer loose jewelry that dangles a bit. Go for adornments that sparkle and catch the eye, like pearls, agates, and diamonds.
Even light-colored rhinestones and costume jewelry can work here if your fashion budget it a litttle light this year. Just use your imagination, and have fun!

If you’re into trendy accessories (and why not?) then you’ll love the latest styles springing out of the top designer’s imaginations. Strong geometrics, bright flourishes, art house, daring and eclectic, these are the buzz words for today’s designer fashions.
Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Coach, Marc Jacob, Louis Vuitton, and all the other top labels are releasing must-have accessories in time for the holidays. If you love handbags, shoes, belts, sunglasses, and jewelry, you’re in for a treat this Christmas. Think bright colors, oversized totes and duffles, polyester, sheer fabrics, and peep-toed booties.
And with the slumping economy, many stores are offering incredible sales before Christmas this year. So you can start your after-Christmas shopping early this year, and bring home bags of crazy designer accessories at even-crazier discounts!

We get a lot of questions about the best ways to use color in a wardrobe. Which colors are best for work, which colors are best for evening wear, which colors go with those colors. Unfortunately, there are not hard and fast rules here. And even if there were, there would always be someone would would break the rules and get away with it (which is now new fashions are usually created anyway).
Anyway, it’s hard to go wrong with neutral colors in a wardrobe. Neutrals add a sophistication to your look, and they rarely go out of style as bolder colors often do. And there’s really no wrong way to mix neutral colors, which is another big plus.
So be creative. Mix a navy skirt with a grey blouse and black jacket, for example. Or loosen up the jacket with a pair of jeans and cute flats. Experiment, and we’re pretty sure you’ll be happy with the results.
